Beautiful Creatures

Read the book, and now I've seen the movie; to be honest I don't know if I'm disappointed or not. The first half was good, it followed the Behemoth of a book well and Emma Thompson was simply terrific! She was the perfect balance of evil and insane; loved every scene with her. 
However, the romance seemed to overpower the actual story. Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of romance, but Beautiful Creatures (novel) has a lot of magic too which the film seemed to lack. A shame, really.
Overall, it was a film I would happily buy on DVD but I don't think it was worth a trip to the cinema.

Rosie Rushton Review

My love of Jane Austen has risen to new heights with this collection of modernised teenage adaptations of the beloved novels by author Rosie Rushton. From Whatever Love Is (Mansfield Park) to firm favourites Summer of Secrets (Northanger Abbey) and Love, Lies and Lizzie (Pride and Prejudice), Rushton has definitely set the bar on how to write a romantic comedy with depth, passion and hormonal drama!
